Operated by the National Weather Service, an agency of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) within the United States Department of Commerce. Its technical name is WSR-88D, which stands for Weather Surveillance Radar, 1988, Doppler. NEXRAD detects precipitation and atmospheric movement or wind.
NOTE: As of this post, StormPredatar has not updated the NEXRAD database to include the new Langley Hill, WA (KLGX) installation. Thanks to the requests of regular site visitors and others, we have included the looping NOAA link to this system for your use, until StormPredatar issues the updated app.

I love this site. SO nice to get forcast for MY neighborhood.
Thanks Ed for the kind message. We sincerely appreciate your support and use of the site!
Momma Judy,
Have you thought about switching your NWS radar to the Langley Hill site? It is only about 50 miles away and gives much better coverage of Thurston County and especially what is coming at us from the west.
Even better perhaps if your StormPredator can do it would be to combine Langley with the Seattle and Portland radars. That appears to be what your KOMO feed is doing.
Sorry for the lengthy delay in responding. I’ve been waiting for the StormPredator developer to update the app to include the Langley Hill site. Not so at this posting. So, thanks for the suggestions. I’ve included a link to the NOAA Langley looping site, so at least our visitors have access to this new system and its data. We will update SP just as soon as they do the same and get it to us. Happy New Year!
Thanks for the site. Use it every day, love it…
Thanks Ryan for your great support. Happy New Year!
Judy,
Your “details” and “daily” pages haven’t updated since 11AM on Saturday.
On the radar, is it possible for you to use this UW site that I use to time my walking?
http://www.atmos.washington.edu/weather/radar.shtml
It does cover a large area, like Calgary to Crescent City
Gary
Thanks again for the observation and input. I’ll evaluate the site and see if it is a good fit.
Hi, nice lookin’ site. Unfortunately it appears your weather radio is down at the moment, which is unfortunate because it appears to be the only live stream of NOAA weather radio in Western Washington (at least as far as Weather Underground knows). Thanks!
Thanks. We are the only stream in WW – yes.
The system will drop from time to time because of utility power issues here, but generally is stable.
Except when one of the shop cats hops up on the shelf where the radio receiver is and pushes buttons with its paw ! LOL
I’ve had a talk with all of them, but sometimes they just don’t listen.
Judy,
I still use your “details” page to average your ET with the Davis VP2 station at the Port of Olympia. Beginning with Saturday’s details report, your ET calc was way below that from Swantown Marina.
Sometimes I can conclude that the prevailing wind direction gave them a much higher average or that the cloud flow for the day gave them more sun and the showers stay south of town.
I had no easy answer this morning so I went to your “daily report”, http://weather.tenino.com/daily.htm, and looked at the today/yesterday data at the bottom. It looks like your solar readings are locking up. You’ve got a reading of 138 watts from midday to midnight for yesterday.

Judy,
Your station stopped uploading the details and almanac pages New Years Eve afternoon.
This doesn’t happen very often with your site (February last year above) so I haven’t been keeping up as you have continued to upgrade your website.
I can’t identify what you’ve changed since the last time I looked but I can say that YOU have done outstanding job as you have added features and more weather info. I go back to your Indian Summer website (7+ years?) and it a real pleasure to see how much your site has developed since I began visiting it.
Thank you and keep up the great work.
Gary
PS – Would you be interested in receiving a copy of my 2012 annual review of the CoCoRaHS locations for Thurston County?
Thanks Gary for your continued support.
When you say “details/almanac” pages – do you mean the “records” button on the live data element at the top of the home page?
The station equipment is located in Maytown headquartered off of a commercial building here.
This rural site is subject to electrical brown or blackouts throughout the winter months and without backup power it is frustrating to see the site drop.
Maybe one of these days I’ll win the argument here to move forward and get that 10,000 KW generator I’ve had my eye on for some time !!
Yes you’re right. With the improvements in the core weather software, and also with the WordPress website upgrade, it has come a long way since its debut.
Best regards and Happy New Year Gary

MM Judy,
Now, I am the one who didn’t check this page. The two pages that I look at each day to check your ET and solar are these pages:
http://weather.tenino.com/details.htm
http://weather.tenino.com/daily.htm
I am not sure how I got the links but I recall something like Swantown Marina still shows here:
http://www.swantown-wifi.portolympia.net/Weather/usa.htm
under their “Graphs,Details” headline.
